Good effort all around....

Ran the phantom hare scramble yesterday. It was an awesome course, pretty challenging for a scramble. So challenging in fact that five minutes into the race I ran off the course straight down into a gulley. I hit the ground face first, which was a new experience for me. Then my bike landed on my back. Ouch. Miraculously I'm fine, just very sore. After everyone in my class passed by me I got up, dusted myself off and rode back up to the course, extremely bitter. I spent the whole rest of the race just wanting to quit, twice wrapped my bike around a tree, and only ended up running two laps before a checkered flag. I still finished 15th in my class! Just the same, I'd like to keep it rubber side down next time.
